My character Cal uses money to keep score, and judge his opponent's investment in any proposed scheme. Does he like having a substantial nest egg? Yeah; but but how much/little he makes isn't the decision breaker; what it means to the person hiring him is.<br /><br />But, as with any other motivation, there is a backstory, a meaning specific to his character. As with your greedy, money hungry villian; there is a deeply personal reason for his obsession; and it is up to the author to subtly reveal this "motivation".
